Colombia
Last summer I tagged along with the hubs for a business trip to Colombia and fell in love with the place but mostly the people, so much so that I guess I sold the idea to my in laws of visiting and they decided to invite us all on a family trip this summer. We were there for only a weeks but wanted to experience both city and something else, so we were in Bogota for part of the trip and the coffee triangle the other part. I really like Bogota, but Solento was definitely my favorite part of the trip! From the breathtaking views to the coffee experience and the wonderful accommodations it was by far one of the best experiences I’ve had. If you are a coffee aficionado or love nature I would totally recommend heading to Solento. We flew to Pereira and then were driven to Solento, not before visiting la https://fincadelcafe.com/ were we walked the grounds and got information not only on how Coffe is harvested but also on 3 different ways to process it; natural, washed, and honey. We then had a coffee experience at Mirador del Cafe restaurant were we also had a wonderful meal while taking in the wonderful views.
We then headed to our hotel https://www.sazagua.com/pereira/ which I would 100% recommend, all the staff is super friendly, accommodations are nice, cozy, clean, and surrounded by beautiful nature, the food at the hotel was excellent I just wish we had stayed longer. That night we were greeted with drinks in a kind of sitting room with views to the mountains and a very cozy chimney, it was winter in Colombia, followed by a delicious dinner(not included). The next morning after a wonderful breakfast we hopped on some Willy’s (Jeeps) and drove to http://www.colparques.net/COCORA were we drank some “canelazo” to get energy to hike the 8.5 kms to the highest viewpoint and back. Once we got to the highest point the fog was very dense which one would think must be a bummer, but to be honest it was wonderful to experience the palm trees in their natural habitat. We then had lunch at https://www.instagram.com/dondelauritacampestre?igsh=b3V4aGt6dzg0eTFu, again totally recommend. After lunch we had the opportunity tu plant “Palmas de Cera”, they are unfortunately in danger of extinction, so it was very nice to connect with the land by planting palms that will hopefully get to flow to 200 ft and live for 200-250 years. We then had time to visit the town and do some shopping, well, most of the family did some shopping while the hubs and I visited a couple of coffee shops one I would definitely recommend is https://www.origenescol.com/ were Daniel and Diana will delight you with a coffee experience. We then headed back to the hotel had another great dinner al fresco and stayed a bit late having a great time with the family. The next morning we headed back to Pereira to arch our flight back to Bogota.
